For Alex Schildt, President of ClearanceJobs, the platform’s mission goes far beyond job listings. “ClearanceJobs is the voice of the cleared community—the national security workforce,” he said during ClearanceJobs Connect 2025.
That voice, Schildt explained, is grounded in two pillars: technology and innovation, and community engagement. “We’re leveraging AI and emerging technologies to help our users connect faster and more securely,” he said. “For recruiters and candidates alike, we want to reduce friction and improve trust.”
The company’s investments in AI are aimed at building smarter connections. “We’re using data not only to match candidates to positions but also to help recruiters understand compensation trends, skills availability, and emerging tech requirements,” he said. “It’s all about helping both sides make better, faster decisions.”
But Schildt stressed that community remains equally vital. “There’s been a lot of talk this week about making careers in national security cool again,” he said. “Not everything is Jason Bourne—but there are incredible missions to work on.”
He highlighted two groups at the heart of that mission: young professionals and transitioning service members. “We’re helping people coming out of the military translate their skills into the civilian and government-contracting world,” he said. “They need to understand how their experience applies, and how to stay connected to the mission once they leave uniform.”
This holistic approach extends into policy. In early 2025, ClearanceJobs launched the Cleared Policy Advisory Board, bringing together respected national security leaders to interpret evolving policy and guide workforce needs. “We sit at the intersection of policy and the workforce,” Schildt said. “Our job is to translate complex changes into clear insights for recruiters and candidates.”
Data, too, underpins the platform’s evolution. “Data is the gasoline for the engine of national security,” Schildt said. “It fuels our ability to advise clients and support professionals throughout their careers.” He added that insights from ClearanceJobs’ massive dataset help organizations plan for new skill demands—especially as AI and emerging tech reshape every corner of the cleared world.
Schildt’s vision is for ClearanceJobs to serve not just as a hiring tool but as a career companion. “We don’t want to engage only when someone is job-hunting,” he said. “We want to provide information, training, and networking throughout their entire cleared career.”
At its core, he said, the company’s mission is national service through innovation. “If we can make the cleared talent ecosystem stronger—if we can connect people to meaningful work that protects the country—then we’re fulfilling our purpose.”
